The Youth Safeguarding in Sport Badge is an open-entry award for young athletes aged 10-13 years, undertaken with a parent or caregiver's formal permission. Grounded in Standards 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the 8 International Safeguards for Children in Sport, it builds on the Child Badge with a greater emphasis on rights, responsibility and positive team culture. Learners develop the knowledge to explain what safe sport means, recognise their rights to feel safe and included, respond to signs that a teammate is unsafe, discuss good team behaviour against a code of conduct, and identify and report unacceptable online conduct. They also demonstrate practical skills in modelling fairness, performing a basic safety check before activity, and behaving in ways that enhance a positive sport culture. Assessment is conducted under the direct supervision of a qualified or experienced coach in a simulated training or competition environment.
